Seattle Pinball League

July 25, 2010 Tournament Results

July brought us to Shoreline and Mitch's home for Ballyfest.  Last chance to promote the Bally high Video:

A new golf tournament format made it's debut.  15 classic Bally's, ranging from Nip It (1973)  to Flash Gordon  (1981),  set the course for 38 participants.

Three different groups set out in the first round playing 5 games each.   4 players from each group advance to the next round to start the "front nine".   Jeff and Maka tied at 14 so a group "A" Face-Off on Bobby Orr's Power Play would determine who would advance.  Jeff's fingers were crazy and flipped as he is smashed against the glass (Pinball, Golf, and Hockey)  Maka advances to the second round.

Round 2 had our 12 participants playing the nine game course of Black jack, Eightball, Embryon, Flash Gordon, Future Spa, Harlem, Nip It,Old Chicago, Strikes and Spares.

Games were played and the field cut in half.... your final group still pin-golfing Robert, Maka, Jamie Beth, Linda, Grant and Rob

Robert and Maka were paired together as they finished the course.  Robert started strong with a hole in one but, a 10 ball meltdown on Mystic would make it anyone's game.  The kid from Canada finished with another hole in one on his final ball to give him a 3 stroke victory over Maka.  Here are your top finishers: Robert 60 points, Maka 63, Jamie Beth 66, Linda 71, Grant 77, Rob 77.   Robert is kicking it into another gear with two consecutive SPL tournament victories, congratulations.

My memory of the specifics of the tournament are little hazy.  I'm pretty sure Brian Headley tilted a ball and the game being played was a Bally.  What I do  remember was the nice sunny day and hanging out with my friends in the Seattle Pinball League.   There was a RV for hanging out, burgers, beer, and spontaneous games between the ousted participants.  I had a great time and I liked the new format especially with such a cool collection of games.  Thanks to Mitch and everyone who helped.  Many people brought games and helped prepare for the tourney.  Big props to Hannah for her work on the registration... I think Rod did some work too.  :)
